Atlantic Grocery Distributors Ltd. (AGD) is a 100% Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) privately owned and operated Wholesale / Foodservice Distribution Company. We are a one stop distribution center consisting of a vast array of products including grocery, foodservice, produce, fresh and frozen meats (including Certified Angus Beef® and a full line of custom cut and packaged meat), general merchandise, hardware supplies, patent medicines, packaging and cleaning supplies, as well as a complete selection of Atlantic Best Cured Beef and Golden Crust Baked Goods.
AGD is the supplier of choice for approximately two hundred franchise stores operating under the retail banners of Foodex, Foodstop, Value Grocer, and Atlantic Convenience as well as independent grocers throughout NL. We also supply and operate three corporately owned full service supermarkets (Powell’s Supermarkets) and two restaurants (Breaktime). Powell’s Supermarkets have been in business for over sixty years competing against all major retail operations.
Headquartered in Bay Roberts, NL, with an additional storage facility in Port Aux Basques, AGD is well situated to provide streamlined distribution and friendly service to both the urban centers of the Avalon Peninsula and the rural Newfoundland and Labrador marketplace. The total square footage of these NSF Cook & Thurber Certified and HACCP Accredited facilities is currently in excess of 160,000 sq ft. and is designed to have six different temperature zones, as well as a chill dock area on the receiving dock, all to insure quality control. Our fleet of almost 40 modern reefer trucks and trailers are also equipped with multi-temperature reefer systems and center divides to ensure that only the highest quality, freshest products are delivered to our customers. AGD also maintains the latest technology to satisfy our customer’s needs including our OrderHawk System and our vast EDI (electronic data interchange) capacity. These systems provide customers with reduced transaction times, fewer shortages and increased order accuracy.
